Mmhm, I've returned to the daily strip and it's even more fun than I remember. I've already done a week (I didn't want to announce I was doing this again and then flake after two days) and they're all after the cut. Expect daily (or close to daily) updates from now until I wuss out again. Last time it took six months. I think I can beat that.

CHECK IT )

I, Ben Rosen, hereby declare today, June 17th, INTERNATIONAL DRAW WHITE CAT DAY.

What is it? A day where everyone in the whole world comes together to draw White Cat hanging out, eating soup, reading a book, whatever.

How can you participate? Just draw a picture of the man himself, post in on your blog and hit me with a comment so I know it's out there. I'll keep updating a running list with links to everyone's work here in this post and we'll see how many drawings of him we can get over the course of the day.

For my picture, I decided to honor Mr. George Clinton, who I thought celebrated a birthday on the 17th for some reason. Untrue - he was born 7/22. In any event, his funk music represents the kind of awesomeness that White Cat risks his life for everyday, so it remains appropriate nonetheless. Here they are high-fiving:

So with that, we're at one entry. Everybody join in! Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

DRAWINGS SO FAR:

MIDNIGHT UPDATE: Amazing, you guys. I can't believe how cool this turned out. It's now the 18th here in my time zone but that should not stop anyone who wants to do a drawing from doing one. Keep them coming! They're all so great!

PS, If you're new to White Cat, and you've been directed here by someone cool who drew a picture of him, the new collection of his adventures is available right here. Check it out!

YOU GUYS, MOCCA IS THIS WEEKEND.

I will be there with this book:

as well as all my mini-comics and bunch of buttons.

But where will you find me?

If you ask the convention program, it will tell you to look for Table 312.

If you ask me, I'll tell you to look for this killer sign:

And if you ask my mom, she'll say to look for the most handsome boy in the room.

So there you go, three clues, see you guys then!

MoCCA is only a week and change away, which is crazy!

I only have one new book at this year's show, but it's a big one. The Adventures of White Cat Volume 1! It's got 64 pages covering adventures new and old with a nice glossy cover, all in a perfect digest size. Seriously, it looks so good, you guys. I'm really happy. I'm saving all the copies for MoCCA, but they'll be available online after the show. Here's a picture:

More stuff behind the cut! )

Hey everybody!

Been very busy with school, etc, but also very busy working on print exclusive material for the upcoming White Cat collection that'll be done in time for MoCCA where I will be tabling/making the ladies swoon. It's looking like 64 pages (24 pages of new stuff), glossy color cover, perfect binding...I'm really pumped. It should cost somewhere around $6 or $7. Right now I'm still figuring out how many I should print, so if you're interested, let me know in the comments and if you can, leave your email address so I can let you know when it's ready to be pre-ordered. Here's a preview:

Also, I started Twittering! Check it out.

Hey guys, I have a guest strip up at The Daily Cross Hatch today so go check it out! Sarah Morean, who's the best, wrote up a really nice bio, too.

And I am so sorry for not posting much recently - things have been pretty busy here but I'm getting back into the drawing comics groove. We'll see what happens...

So I'm writing some kooky new White Cat stories for a collection of old WC strips and NEVER BEFORE SEEN WC strips in time for MoCCA. That means I am in the mood for crazy, whacky, crappy old comics. But I have no idea where to find them! It seems like none of the shops around here have dollar bins where I can pull out stories about second rate superheroes nobody remembers fighting dinosaurs or cheesy romance comics or anything else terrible (but awesome) along those lines. Any ideas, guys? I looked on ebay and found some collections of stuff that people are selling, but I don't feel like paying $10 in shipping for Millie the Model comics! Solve my problems internet: I want zany and I want it cheap. Thanks!

Also, sorry for not posting much recently. Here is a random panel from the story I've slowly been working on:

Hey everybody. Just wanted to pop in and say that I dropped off some copies of Insult to Injury 8 at the ridiculously awesome Brooklyn comic store Desert Island, so if you are in the area and are looking to pick up a copy, you are now so in luck. It is full of journal comics from March-May. There are also a few copies of issue 7 there, too. Go and check it out! It's a really awesome place with so many cool comics. So many that it's pretty overwhelming. But in a good way, trust me.

Hey everybody! I just realized I haven't posted in like 6 weeks. So lame, I know. I've been working on this longer story I showed you guys the first page of and it is coming along slooow. But good! I'm really happy with it so far. I think I'm still just going to unveil it when it's all done, but maybe I should check in every once in a while with a panel or two to show you guys (and to show you guys I'm not dead). Here's a little scene from the book:

Also it's almost 2009, man. Whaat? I'd say I had a pretty productive year - 6 months of journal strips, a few White Cat stories, the beginning of this longer story. Big plans for the first half of '09, though. The goal is to finish this big, long story in time for MoCCA. It should be about 20-25 pages and I've got 4 drawn, so it'll be tough, but maybe I can get it done. Either way, I will at least have a second book of journal strips and a White Cat collection with a new strip or two printed for MoCCA. Wish me luck!
